Description

Prevention with digital technologies: expanding the possibilities for better mental health

How can we improve people's mental health and prevent mental health problems by using digital technology?

The Mental Health Foundation and the University of York present this free conference, which will consider the evidence for a future in which digital technology can help to protect against mental health problems and deliver good mental health for all.

Expert presentations, poster presentations and a digital marketplace will focus on all levels of prevention: in primary and secondary healthcare and in relapse prevention.

The afternoon will include a panel discussion on Tech for Good? - How can we ensure effective co-production, access and equity in the development and use of cost-effective digital mental health technologies, in this fast-moving field of many and varied technologies and approaches?

We expect the conference to attract international participants as well as a wide range of UK health and social care professionals, academics, policy makers, service commissioners and providers, experts by experience, people with caring responsibilities and SME developers.

Current confirmed speakers and expert panel participants:

  • Claudi Bockting, Professor of Clinical Psychology within Psychiatry, Academic Medical Centre - University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands
  • Rachel Churchill, Professor in Evidence Synthesis, University of York
  • Dr Lina Gega, Reader in Mental Health, University of York
  • Prof. Simon Gilbody, Director of the Mental Health and Addictions Research Group, University of York
  • Tracy Parr, Director of Transformation Children and Young People, Homeless Health and Good Thinking Programmes, Healthy London Partnership
  • Rebecca Verlander, NHSE Development & Assurance Manager, CYP Mental Health & Mad Women Podcast Founder
  • Mark Brown, Mental health developer and service user, Social Spider Ltd.

Registration will be from 08.45am, the programme will start from 09.30am.
Please note exact timings will be confirmed on this site, once the programme is finalised.
