Event description

Description

In this workshop we will learn basic embroidery stitches. We will be stitching a pre-drawn design for practice and then each adding to the design in any way that makes it your own. In addition to teaching the practical application of the basic stitches, we will be talking about how to begin to use them as a way to connect and weave story. All materials will be provided for you to keep and take home to continue your journey with this wonderful, meditative craft.

Arwyn Moonrise is an embroidery artist with a natural gift for teaching the craft in a fun and practical manner. She learned to embroider during her childhood watching her mother mend and decorate the families clothing on their organic blueberry farm in rural Maine, and reconnected with stitching later in life. Fueled by her passion for creating, recognizing the power of bespoke sacred garments, and wanting to help reduce fashion waste by giving vintage clothing new life, she started her custom embroidery business Township 31 (named after the township she grew up in). Arwyn creates one of a kind custom pieces for her clients that tell a story reflecting meaning and sacred connection. Her work is executed with technical precision and intricacy. She truly believes that EVERYONE can create beauty through stitching and has an approach to teaching that is accessible and fun.
