Please join Vermont Healthcare Innovators, and EMBOLDIA guest moderator Dr. Barry Finette, Founder, Chairman, and CEO at Thinkmd for an evening of conversation and networking with Dr. Scott Gridley SVP of Organ-Chip developer, Emulate, Inc. as they discuss "Entrepreneurship, Technology, and the Healthcare Revolution".

Also featuring Shameless Plugs, an around the room no-holds-barred 2-minute opportunity for attendees to share current business concepts, garner interest for investment opportunities, seek collaboration, or engage with potential employees or employers.


About Scott Gridley

Dr. Scott Gridley received his Ph.D. from Dartmouth Medical School studying retroviral replication. His postdoc with Dr. Gus Lienhard, also at Dartmouth, focused on phosphoproteomic approaches to mapping insulin signaling. Scott worked in the Diabetes group at Novartis Pharmaceuticals in assay development and high-throughput screening for five years.

Scott was a founder of Blue Sky Biotech, an innovative Contract Research Organization (CRO) based in Worcester, MA. Blue Sky was acquired by Lake Pharma in 2016. Most recently, Scott has been a leader in business development for Organovo, a San Diego-based company using 3D printing to create human tissues, and Emulate, a Boston-based company pioneering the industry in Organ-Chip systems.

About Barry Finette

Barry Finette, MD, Ph.D. - Co-founder of THINKMD. Dr. Finette is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and an attending and teaching physician in the Pediatric Inpatient and Critical Care Division at Vermont’s Children’s Hospital.

He has 25 years of experience as a pediatrician in the areas of emergency, critical and acute care medicine, with an additional 30 years of experience as a basic, clinical and translational research scientist. He has been the principal investigator on over 28 government and non-government peer-reviewed research grants and has participated in numerous clinical, research, medical and humanitarian capacity building and disaster relief missions in Uganda, Ethiopia, Peru, Jamaica, Bhutan, South Africa, Ecuador, Philippines, Congo, Cameroon, Togo, Benin, Bangladesh and Burkina Faso.

He is the Co-Founder of THINKMD, a for-profit benefit corporation whose mission is to develop solutions that increase healthcare access and capacity for anyone, anywhere.
