is unearthed in Houston May 2 - 12, 2013!
Elton John and Tim Rice's AIDA sweeps you back to ancient Egpyt to follow the story of forbidden love between Aida, the enslaved Nubian princess, and Radames, the Captain of the Egyptian army. Based on Verdi's opera, this contemporary translation with a score by Tim Rice and Sir Elton John and book by Linda Woolverton, Robert Falls, and David Henry Hwang is reincarnated in Houston by Bayou City Theatrics, May 2 through 5 and 9 through 12 at Barnevelder Arts Complex.
Director/designer Colton Berry and choreographer William Martin will transport you to the ancient setting with stunning dance sequences, innovative visuals and in-the-round staging. Sir Elton John's lush score soars to life with the incomparable vocals of a brilliant cast lead by Miatta Lebile as Aida, Colton Berry as Captain Radames and Crystyl Swanson as the Egyptian princess, Amneris. The leading cast is supported by Bayou City Theatrics veterans Erin Wasmund, Matt Johnson, Kelly Waguespack, Scott Lupton, and Rikki Conner, as well as BCT newcomers Kyle Ezer, Elizabeth Tinder, Miguel Garcia, Mori Seriki, Derrien Kellum, Eric Briggs, Melanie Burke, Spiral Jackson, and Brian Chambers.
