Event description
Foot-stompin’ party music of a departed era! Check out Ellis Dyson & The Shambles' Gypsy Swingin' Dixie Jazz!

About this Event

Ellis Dyson & the Shambles expertly blends old-time influences ranging from early New Orleans jazz to Piedmont murder ballads. The result: foot-stompin’ and eccentric original songs that bring party music of departed eras to crowds both young and old. The Shambles have made waves with their theatrical live shows and dazzling musicianship. The original compositions evoke a bygone era while contributing to the vast tradition of storytelling through songwriting. The group released their 3rd full-length album “Greetings from Shambylvania” in April 2019. The album, deliberately written as a full group, is a series of whimsical vignettes from the fictional town of Shambylvania.

Ellis Dyson & the Shambles have performed hundreds of shows throughout the east coast and midwest and have shared a bill with national acts such as Lake Street Dive, Rebirth Brass Band, Pokey Lafarge, and Mipso, to name a few. The band consists of Ellis Dyson (banjo, vocals), Eli Wittmann (acoustic guitar), Butler Knowles (upright bass), Danny Abrams (soprano/alto/baritone saxophones, clarinet, vocals), and Danny Grewen (trombone, vocals). They came together through a series of fortuitous meetings in Chapel Hill, N.C. Beginning back in 2013 as a saxophone and banjo duo, Ellis Dyson & the Shambles has grown into a freight train string band with a flashy horn section.

Ashley Heath and Her Heathens are a psychedelic Americana band hailing from Asheville, NC. Their sound has touches of thoughtful songwriting, sensual blues/soul vocals, and hard rock/jam rhythm section, to a little bit of country and twang. Heath has been voted as Mountain Xpress Readers Best of WNC Singer/Songwriter, Vocalist, Acoustic/Folk, and Americana Country Artist of 2019 and has toured extensively throughout the country, along with a European Tour through Netherlands, Belgium, and France over the course of the past several years. Now with the full band in action, you can catch the Heathens all over the region!

Ashley Heath has shared the stage and performed with Del McCoury Band, Bobby Osborne, Ivan Hampden Jr., Big Daddy Love, Jeff Sipe, Artimus Pyle, Jim Lauderale, Ron Holloway, Sierra Hull, The Mavericks, Southern Avenue, Shamarr Allen from Galactic, Yarn and more.

Performed at countless major festivals including Bonaroo, Merlefest, Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival, Floyd Fest, Apex Music Festival, Fall For Greenville, and countless others. They have toured consistently on the East Coast at some of the country's top venues including The Orange Peel (Asheville, NC), The Pour House Music Hall (Raleigh, NC), Don Gibson Theatre (Shelby NC) and more.
