Elliot’s Ride for Everyone is your chance to ride along Newport's scenic coastline, free of cars!
This is the one day of the year when everyone comes out to enjoy one of the loveliest rides in the region outside, on the road, safely and with confidence. Please visit our Elliot's Ride information page on the Bike Newport website for more event details, updates, and announcements.
Bring your kids and your friendly furry friends - roll, stroll, hike, pedal - enjoy the wind in your hair and smiles on your faces. This wonderful community event is FREE to attend, though donations are warmly welcomed, and support Bike Newport's bike safety education initiatives honoring the memory of Elliot Kaminitz.
You'll see two ticket types as you register: one to register each person attending, and the other to add an optional donation to the Elliot Kaminitz Bike Safety Fund. Thank you!
Bike Newport welcomes the return of our longstanding community partner Newport Craft Brewing & Distilling Co. as the presenting sponsor for the 2023 Elliot’s Ride. “Elliot's Ride is the quintessential bike experience for everyone. We’re excited to partner with Bike Newport so that our community can experience biking as an eco-friendly and fun way to get around”, shared Newport Craft CEO Brendan O’Donnell.
If you or someone you know would like to become a Sponsor of this joy-filled community event, please contact chris@bikenewportri.org. Surpassing 500 riders and growing, Elliot's Ride for Everyone offers a high-visibility sponsorship option for area businesses.
You may enter the car-free area from 3 locations: from the north at Rogers High School (on Wickham Rd); from the west at Ocean Ave/Harrison Ave (near Brenton Point); or from the east at Ocean Ave/Carroll Ave (near Gooseberry Beach).
There will be plenty of parking, some light refreshment, and bathroom facilities in front of Rogers High School where the official event welcome will take place at 8:45am.
At 9am, Newport Police will close the route to cars - including the length of Hazard Road, through the Goose Neck Salt Marsh, and Ocean Avenue from Carroll Avenue to Harrison Avenue. At 12pm, cars will again enter the roadway so you’ll want to be safely off the road before that time.
Note to area residents living on the route: Residents with urgent need to bring their vehicle onto the route during the event should call the Newport Police at (401) 847-1306. If you have any question in advance of the event, feel free to contact Allyson McCalla at Bike Newport at (401) 619-4900.
Please enjoy this brief video recap of last year's Elliot's Ride for Everyone, and be sure to join us for an unforgettable community ride in 2023!
