Walgreens Supplier Diversity, Illinois Toll Highway Authority
The Elite SDVOB Network is holding its next Illinois Chapter meeting on Thursday, January 26 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.. The location is 300 North LaSalle Street, Chicago and is being co-sponsored by Elite SDVOB Network and the law firm of McDonald-Hopkins.
The January meeting will focus on opportunities for Veteran Owned and other diverse businesses with Walgreens—which operates a robust supplier diversity program—and Illinois Toll Highway Authority—which has taken a leading position among State of Illinois agencies for Veteran Owned Business engagement and is buying a wide range of services under the $12 billion Move Illinois capital program—as well as measures a business should take in the wake of a security breach, and legal developments that affect diverse businesses. Representatives from other commercial and government organizations will also be coming as special guests to participate in the meeting, and members will have the chance to deliver capabilities presentations.
Our first honored Guest Speakers include Gustavo Giraldo (Chief of Diversity and Strategic Development), John Donato (Chief of Procurement) and Paul Cerpa (Executive Manager, Diversity & Strategic Development) with the Illinois Tollway. Gustavo, John and Paul have been longtime friends of Elite SDVOB Network, and will be sharing information on Move Illinois, products and services the Tollway buys, programs being developed under the Tollway’s Diversity Advisory Council, and opportunities and steps for diverse businesses to do business with the Tollway.
Our second honored Guest Speaker is Neli Vazquez Rowload, Co-Founder and President of A Safe Haven Foundation, described by Governor Bruce Rauner as "a wonderful organization that helps those in need. It helps those that are homeless and are in need of counseling and career opportunities, especially our veterans." Neli will share information about A Safe Haven and it's initiatives related to helping veterans.
Our third honored Guest Speaker is Reuben Hamilton, Manager of Supplier Diversity-Services for Walgreens and a seasoned Supplier Diversity professional who has advanced engagement of diverse suppliers for such companies as Express Scripts, CVS and United Airlines. Reuben will be sharing information on Walgreens' Supplier Diversity program, doing business with Walgreens, and also sharing highlights on the company's efforts in recruiting veterans into its workforce.
Our host, attorney Michelle Kantor, is a noted expert on a wide range of legal and business topics that affect Veteran Owned Businesses and their partners. Michelle will present updates on legal issues that affect veteran owned businesses, as well as legislative developments.
