Join us Sunday, Oct. 29th for the reading of Elijah, a new play by Sandy Rustin, directed by Jason Chaet. Elijah is a new dark comedy with Jews, Blacks, Gays, Muslims, Women, Republicans, Magic and Facts. The confluence of faith, family, science, and mysticism merge as Elijah the Prophet wards off the plagues at one Midwestern family's Passover Seder. This comedy features Janet Metz (MARIE CHRISTINE, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF), Adam Dannheisser (OSLO, ROCK OF AGES), Danielle Ferland (JESSICA JONES, THE NORMAL HEART), Savannah Frazier (AMAZING GRACE), Kyle Scatliffe (THE COLOR PURPLE, LES MISERABLES), Michael Perilstein (ODD MOM OUT), Maria Eberline (WICKED) and Matthew Gumley (DORA THE EXPLORER, ADDAMS FAMILY).

Sandy Rustin is an actress and playwright. Her sketch comedy musical, Rated P … For Parenthood, opened Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre and was optioned for TV development with ABC Studios. Her plays, The Cottage, (“Laugh Out Loud!” – The NY Times) and Struck (“A Charming Comedy!” – The NY Times) are running in theatres across the U.S. Her newest play, Houston, is the recent recipient of the New American Musical Award. Sandy is the co-director/producer of the annual North Jersey Listen to Your Mother Show, the Founding Co-Artistic Director of Midtown Direct Rep & an advocate for http://cowdenfoundation.org/ A graduate of Northwestern University and a member of ASCAP, SAG/AFTRA, AEA, and the Dramatists Guild, Sandy is represented by Abrams Artists. www.sandyrustin.com

Jason Chaet is an award-winning filmmaker, theatre director, producer, editor and acting teacher based in New York City. He got his start at the Ensemble Studio Theatre where he worked with off-broadway icon Curt Dempster, and developed new work by playwrights including David Mamet and Arthur Miller. He created and directed Off the Page for HBO/USCAF and has a vast array of theater directing credits in NYC and around the country. He founded and was the artistic director of Stage One, an Off-Off Broadway theater company that specialized in developing and producing new and under-performed one-act plays.

His feature film Putzel (starring Jack Carpenter, Melanie Lynskey, Susie Essman, and John Pankow) won multiple awards, appeared in over fifty film festivals around the world, and was distributed internationally by Filmbuff. Other FILM/TV credits include Remember, Kissing Jessica Stein (Creative Consultant), and Avenues (TV Pilot). He also created, directs and produces the short political web series Just Words.

Jason is a longtime member of the acting faculty at AMDA where he teaches scene study, on camera acting, screenwriting, and directs showcase productions. In development feature film projects include: Verona (starring Ruben Blades), Sineca, and SIFU (written by the Sandy Rustin Fleischer). He lives on the Upper West Side with his wife Heather and daughter Tessa.
