Event description

Description

Elevation Certificate Basics: How to Complete the FEMA EC Correctly for Everyone will provide detailed training on completing a FEMA Elevation Certificate (EC) accurately and in its entirety, allowing full compliance with any program that requires submission of an EC. The course provides guidance on implementation and use of the EC and covers EC requirements for surveying, foundation flood openings, and certification. The instructor, Del Schwalls, PE,CFM of Schwalls Consulting LLC, will review the requirements for an EC under a variety of programs including the Community Rating System (CRS) and identify the portions of the EC instructions that should not be used, in order to achieve full compliance with all programs. The course will cover common errors and omissions, examine various EC building diagrams and real-world examples.

Participants will learn to complete a FEMA EC in order to satisfy the requirements of any program; will understand the data needs for each individual EC section; and will understand how the EC is used by CRS. Taking this course will change attendee's approach to ECs from 'minimum needs' to 'best practice', and help attendee avoid common mistakes that can invalidate the EC for certain programs.

Seating is limited so register now. Organizers reserve the right to cancel the training event. Registrants will be notified prior to the course of any changes. Contact Margo Posten at margo.posten@dmr.ms.gov for additional information.
