Event description
Elevating homes or building like the Florida Keys is one way to adapt to sea level rise and flooding.

About this Event

Elevating homes, other buildings, and critical equipment like air conditioning units on pilings, concrete columns or stilts is one way to reduce risk to multiple types of flooding (e.g., stormwater, groundwater, storm surge, tidal) made worse by sea level rise. With this approach, we can “build like the Keys”, and learn to live with more water in low-lying neighborhoods near the Little River while reducing and, in some cases, avoiding damage or disruption. This webinar will describe what the step by step process for elevating a home, highlight examples of other communities who have successfully elevated buildings, and discuss ways elevation projects can be funded.

Join Miami-Dade County and partners for a series of short presentations followed by a panel discussion on the step by step process for elevating a home, highlight examples of other communities who have successfully elevated buildings, and discuss ways elevation projects can be funded.

Speakers to be announced soon.
