About this event

***100% of the proceeds from all ticket sales go to support Georgia Fort's campaign to launch her television show.***

“Since the inception of American media, the image of Black people on screen has been exploited and misrepresented. Media has at large served as a tool to dehumanize Black people. So, for those reasons — and for my children and the future of our nation — it is my duty to change the narrative.” – Georgia Fort

Why is diversity in media important? What changes when we invest in independent journalism? Minnesota Journalism Hall of Fame journalist Robyne Robinson will moderate a panel discussion to explore just that during a fundraiser & auction to help Georgia Fort launch her own TV Show on the CW.

----------

Georgia Fort is an Emmy-nominated journalist whose reporting has been featured on CNN, ABC, NBC, Fox and CBS affiliates. Georgia masterfully tells stories designed to change the narrative of marginalized communities by amplifying truth, citing diverse sources and contextualizing social justice issues. Georgia is launching her own show, a weekly half-hour TV show designed to bring her award-winning reporting to an even larger audience.

And that’s where YOU come in.

Some Georgia Fort fans came together with the desire to create a space to gather with others to support her campaign. This event is that space and we are hoping you can join us. To aid in the fundraising effort, we've created a ticket pricing structure that will take the place of a donor's contribution to Georgia's campaign. If you’re looking for a direct way to support diversity, equity, inclusion, accuracy in the media, social justice and amplify Black stories and voices on issues vital to all of us, this is it.

Where can I learn more about Georgia's work?

Please visit www.georgiafort.com to learn more about Georgia's vision and see examples of her work.

What do the different ticket prices for the fundraiser mean?

Proceeds from all ticket sales go directly to Georgia's fundraising goal to launch her show. The different levels reflect how those dollars could be applied and are designed to help donors understand the impact their donations can have.

What if I don't see a ticket price that matches the donation I want to give?

There is an option to write in your own donation amount.

I'd prefer to donate at the event instead of online. How do I do that?

Select the ticket option to "Donate at the Event". We'll see you on October 5th!
