One ELEVATE North West Mid-career Outdoor Artist Mentored Post, 2017 (paid)
Period: Up to 10 days (or half day equivalent) between 15th May – 18th June 2017
Location: WOW Workshop, Campfield Market Hall, Manchester
Post: A mid-career outdoor artist / maker with skills in either costume, puppet or 3D making. This is a mentored post to work alongside an inter/national outdoor artist on Manchester Day 2017.
Manchester Day is an annual outdoor arts event now in its 8th year centres around a large scale parade and city square artistic programme. Over 2,500 performers and artists from local communities bring Manchester city centre to life in a fantastic display of colour, sound and movement to an audience of 70,000. This year’s Manchester Day theme is Abracadabra.
What is ELEVATE?
ELEVATE is a North West outdoor artist mentoring and training programme. Creative practitioners are mentored and trained by experts to work on Manchester Day, Manchester's largest scale outdoor arts event.
About the Post
This is an opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by a leading inter/national outdoor artist, working on a key parade element for Manchester Day. In return you will be given responsibility for helping lead your junior artists and any participants involved in the making process.
You will gain mentoring and leadership experience, build your profile, portfolio and network in the regions outdoor arts sector.
Have you got what we are looking for?
Creative skillset in ‘making’ for outdoor arts in either costume, puppet or 3D mobile structures
A confident creative thinker willing to add to the conversation
Organised with a keen eye for detail
Friendly, with great communication skills, good at fitting into a team and (where appropriate) helping participants enjoy their experience of making
Keen to build on their experience of working in outdoor arts
Able to work as part of a professional team and independently
Candidates should have at least three year’s experience working as a professional artist, live or work in or around the North West of England, and be available to work between May and June 2017.
Selection will be based on how much the panel feels the candidate will benefit from the opportunity and what they will bring to Manchester Day and Elevate.

Fees and Expenses
Fee £1,350 inc VAT for 10 days plus limited expenses.
