New Orleans School of Ballet's Youth Program follows a progressive curriculum, divided by level and age. Each level is designed to be sensitive to the developmental needs of its age group. Our curriculum combines elements from the classic French, Italian, Russian, and American schools of training.
Elementary A: Ages 7 and older
Elementary B: Ages 9 and older
Intermediate A/B: Ages 12 and older
These classes focus on proper Ballet technique, strength, flexibility and body alignment. Additional attention is given to musicality, movement quality and anatomically correct work. Intermediate Level students study pointe at the discretion of the instructor. Placement is required.
The Conservatory Track offers an extensive schedule for young dancers interested in rigorous ballet training. Performance opportunities are available. All students in Elementary A or higher are eligible to participate. For optimal training and the best overall experience, an entire school year commitment is requested for acceptance to this training opportunity.
The Enrichment Track offers quality instruction to students who wish to study ballet recreationally.
