Event description

Description

In the next twelve months, all Victorian councils must commit to their next round of electricity contracts. Current market rates indicate that councils are in for significant ‘price shock’ if they continue to purchase energy using a business as usual approach.

This event aims to:

• Provide councils with independent information to critically assess future options for electricity contracts

• Assist councils to understand how electricity contracts can meet their policy objectives and develop contract preferences based on those objectives

• Facilitate discussion between councils and identify collaborative groupings for future electricity projects

Who should attend?

This event is intended for local government officers (eg. procurement, sustainability officers) who manage energy contracts on behalf of their councils, or who are interested in energy from other aspects (eg. managing renewable energy targets etc.)

What will be discussed?

• Current options through Procurement Australia and MAV, costs and implications

• Lessons from the Melbourne Renewable Energy Project (MREP)

• Findings of the Large Scale Solar Feasibility Study

• Identifying preferences for alternate contract options

Morning tea and a light lunch will be provided.
