Event description

Description

The mission of Elderberry Farms Native Plant Nursery is to promote awareness of the benefits of native plant habitat, encourage community involvement, and provide a source of local native plants for restoration projects as well as home gardeners. The nursery is operated entirely by volunteers from Sacramento Valley Chapter of the California Native Plant Society (CNPS). Volunteers are always encouraged to become members of CNPS (of course!) but membership is not required to volunteer.

We learn about the benefits of local native plants, and various propagating techniques. CNPS treats volunteers to Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches but you are welcome to bring your own lunch if you prefer. We also work in our demonstration gardens during our workdays. These are small sized landscapes that show others how to effectively use native plants in their own landscape. Bring gardening gloves and water; dress in layers. Our workdays are held rain or shine since we have a greenhouse to use in the winter and good shade in the summer.
