Event description
Elder Financial Abuse Prevention

About this Event

The statistics for elder financial exploitation are staggering. According to some estimates, as many as 1 in 10 Americans over the age of 60 have experienced some form of elder abuse at an annual estimated cost of $37 billion. FinCEN recognized the important role financial institutions could play in helping to recognize red flags associated with elder fraud when they issued their advisory in 2011. But, what has changed in the last eight years? Join the ACAMS Carolina Chapter and the Charlotte Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners as we present our first joint learning event on Elder Abuse and Fraud Prevention. Industry experts from federal and local law enforcement, along with financial professionals, will share updated information on ever-changing typologies to help ensure our programs can detect, and ultimately, prevent elder financial abuse.
