ELab Alum events are back! The first session in October was a great success with rave reviews by founder attendees.
To continue to support founder's business development and networking efforts the ELabNYC Program works with the ELabNYC Alum Planning Committee to develop opportunities to learn from and interact with other alums and founders, as well as potential mentors, investors and professional advisors.
This year, the series of five events focuses on Team Building moving beyond “ONE IS THE LONELIEST NUMBER”, as a necessary part of growing your business and attracting investors. Each of the first four sessions will take place at the offices of Pryor Cashman LLP and will have the following format:
5:30 – 6:00 pm: Food, wine and schmoozing
6:00 – 7:00 pm: Program
7:00 – 7:30 pm: Q&A
7:30 – 8:00 pm: More schmoozing
The final May 2017 event will be hosted at Microsoft's new Grand Central Tech space and include an opportunity to Pitch for Team Mates. More on that coming soon!
Here’s a brief description of the second session: we look forward to seeing you! Please sign up now. The room is limited to 75 participants.
Dec 7, 2016 “Make or Buy? Do I stay as CEO and develop or do I find a CEO to join the team"
Will the company be stronger if you keep control of the business decisions?
What are the trade-offs between staying and developing your skills or finding a partner/employee who can take on the CEO role? A panel including an experienced founder entrepreneur, investors and a human resources consultant will talk about when it makes sense to bring someone in and what difference it can make to your likelihood of success. Addressing the question of how to investors view the CEO role, discussion will cover soliciting and picking suitable candidates, interviewing skills, compensation negotiations (including typical cash and equity ranges), finding and navigating to a new role in the venture you founded, board management, setting specific goals, performance reviews and (worst case) what to do if it’s not working out.
