Event description

Description

This face-to-face worshop is designed for any instructor seeking to improve their understanding of making Canvas objects (files, pages, assignments, discussions, etc.) accessible and interpreting information provided by tools like Ally, as well as providing you first-hand experience with some of the many facets of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Join us for an exploration of how the accessibility of content can not only benefit your students (those with accommodations and those without), but also yourself through the organization and structure it creates. By the end of the workshop, you should have a firm grasp on the the use, importance, and implementation of the following tools:

  • Ally and Canvas accessibility alerts
  • Headings and other document formatting
  • Alternative text for images

In addition to these, you will get a brief overview of the other areas of accessibility that Ally does not cover and a multitude of online resources to help you further apply accessibility concepts into your own content moving forward.

PREREQUISITES: None, but eLearning 101 is strongly recommended.
