When & Where
El Puente — Spanish for The Bridge — is a youth and community development organization in North Brooklyn that inspires, nurtures and supports youth and adult members in transforming their community and the world. Founded in 1982 on the Southside of Williamsburg, El Puente works directly with more than 2,500 individuals each year and reaches thousands more in Williamsburg and Bushwick through its arts presentations and community outreach campaigns. Our programs include a comprehensive Arts and Cultural Center, our Latino Climate Action Network (LCAN), The Green Light District (our strategic ten-year initiative to sustain, grow, green, and celebrate Williamsburg’s Southside community), The Global Justice Institute (our comprehensive training, development, and certification program), six Youth Leadership Centers, and a partnership with the El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice and the MS50-El Puente Community School.
