With support from the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance’s (HAA) Special Initiative Grants Program, Flamárt presents: El Festival de la Salsa: Houston’s Ultimate Salsa Party! International guests include Grammy Award Winner William ‘Kachiro’ Thompson (congas), participant in over 300 recordings with artists such as Marc Anthony, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Isaac Delgado, Oscar De León, Grupo Niche, Ismael Miranda, and others. Continuing the international guests is Pucho Matos, one of Latin’s music most respected bassist with a stellar list of artists such as salsa superstar La India (where he served as Music Director), longtime bassist for the legendary Ray Barreto, Jose Alberto ‘El Canario, Luis Enrique, Ray Sepúlveda, Luis ‘Perico’ Ortíz, among others. Under the baton of the festival’s Music Director Jorge Orta ‘Cro Cro’, former percussionist of the legendary Grupo Niche, the festival will feature 4 spectacular concerts by some of today’s most exciting groups among them: the Cuban sound of Grupo Batacha, the star studded Houston All Stars Orchestra, and the passionate melodies of Tumbao Clásico. In addition, the festival will feature a full tribute concert to salsa legends Rubén Blades, Celia Cruz, Oscar D’Leon and Joe Arroyo. Our guest DJ Franky will be spinning the hottest and latest timba, merengue, bachata and of course salsa for the delight of the attendees. Food, beverages and much more at this great party for all ages.
Salsa for Toys
Salsa for Toys Drive is a fun and festive city-wide toy-drive party designed to benefit organizations and events that provide gifts during the Holiday Season. Have fun while getting in the Holiday Spirit and helping those less fortunate. This year’s recipients are: Texas Children Hospital and Toys for Kids at GRB.
