Description

EIT Health invites all medical and veterinarian students and doctors, infection control practitioners and individuals working in the health sector interested in making a real change in the field of AMR to be part of this unique event!

when: 15th to 17th November 2019
where: Akademie für Gesundheitsberufe, Wieblinger Weg 19, 69123 Heidelberg, Germany
registration deadline: 4th November 2019

The Hackathon aims to investigate unique approaches to deal with Antimicrobial Diseases (AMR) in European countries in case of drug-resistant superbug outbreak. The Hackathon will have several challenges based on the outlined scenario initiated by various pharma, industry, insurance and governmental entities.

There are various novel methods and possible alternative therapies that may be used to face such an outbreak. The approaches that are proposed are to be considered the challenges and will be tackled by the respective teams. The teams will address the following points revolving around the challenges:

  • What is the science/biology behind the method and how does it work? (side effects, effectiveness, impact, etc.)
  • Who is leading this method? (institutions, countries, labs, etc.)
  • How can this be taken into other countries despite the politics and regulations? (regional/national/international regulations, prevention and public safety measures/rules, readiness and adaptability in countries).

Solutions for these challenges will be developed by the participating teams as the main goals of the Hackathon. During the Hackathon, the participants will be divided into groups, while each group will hold a presentation on the last day about their approach and solution. Moreover, there will be presentations during the Hackathon from experts and representatives that will serve as guidance for the participating teams. Following that, the solutions will be communicated with the respective interested entities and will also be published in the form of a White Paper. That White Paper will be submitted to DG Santé and afterwards to local and national authorities, therefore aiming to impact the policy and decision makers in Europe.
