We invite you to EIT Food EWA Final Pitch Competition! This event will be a pre-event of Women In Tech Global Awards 2020!
EIT Food EWA - Empowering Women in Agrifood is an EIT Food program aimed at women from southern and eastern Europe with talent and passion for entrepreneurship in the agrifood sector. This program seeks to find innovative solutions that solve the problems faced by the food system, paying special attention to areas that have a low innovation rate or difficult access to other incubation or acceleration programs. This competition will be the final phase of this program. We will have 10 outstanding female founders ready to pitch and inspire you with their innovative solutions that will revolutionize the food system, starting at this event!
With our startups' pitching, special guest appearances, and the award of two cash prizes: 1st prize - 10.000€ and 2nd prize - 5.000€ by the jury, the line-up promises to leave you nourished with innovative ideas. Besides, you get the chance to award your favorite startup with a Public Prize BGI GoToMarket Pack! The winner of the GoToMarket Pack will receive 3 months of support from BGI in deal-flow for investment, deal-flow for costumers, and support on marketing their product. During the presentations, attendants will be invited to vote on their favorite ideas and the one with more votes will win the Public Prize!
How will it work? There will be a link where the startups will pitch for 5 min, followed by a 5 min Q&A from the Jury awarding the prizes.

Startups Presenting
AgroGriN Tech is an R&D company that has developed a patented technology for separating natural ingredients from waste streams. They are currently selling this process to fruit processing plants, allowing them to significantly decrease the amount of total downstream waste and monetize former waste streams.
AGROLUX project - Urban Hydroponic Agriculture is a social entrepreneurship initiative, which aims to prove the viability of vertical agriculture, its environmental, economic, and social impact.
Bistrô Bekas, makes the recovery of ancestral cuisine combined with the Mediterranean diet. Practical and healthy. These are recipes from the ready kitchen, preserved in 100% olive oil. The slow cooking process at low temperature in fat - we choose Olive Oil national extra virgin. This guarantees the organoleptic properties of the ingredients. So we create an emotional relationship, giving food comfort and balancing food needs.
Detox in the Box is a B2B subscription-based startup that delivers fresh and 100% natural, ready to blend smoothies to companies. They deliver freshly cut fruits & vegetables cups in combination with an adapted blender produced in-house that allows users to blend their smoothies and drink it directly in the same recipient.
FoodAccept is developing is a test that allows you to predict how a food will taste, without having to put it in your mouth. This product will be able to give the bitter and astringent characteristics that the food/drink will have to a consumer through of the characteristics of the saliva. Thus, it allows a more accurate knowledge of the sensory characteristics of the product than those given by the knowledge of the chemical composition of the product.
Mum's Cooking has developed frozen products to ensure its preservation, without the need for chemicals or additives. The project aims to make healthy eating easier and more practical, even for those who don't like to cook or for those who don't have time. The aim is that the lack of time or skill is no longer an excuse for people to resort to less good options (namely pre-made, industrial options, with dubious quality ingredients and plenty of additives).
Nolita develops products with super sustainable ingredients: natural sweetener without calories made from pears and apples and grape seed oil (uses the seeds leftover in wine production). All Nolita products respect the 4 SEM of our commitment: no refined sugar, no other refined carbohydrates (100% whole), no preservatives, and no pesticides.
Papinhas da Xica started as a communication platform in nutrition and food for children, consisting of a website: papinhasdaxica.pt and associated social networks (Facebook and Instagram). Today it has more than 3 million views on the website and with more than 100,000 followers in the sum of Facebook and Instagram. In 2018, it was of the company, and the first product of the brand was launched: a baby feeding book, which is already in its 3rd edition. Along 2020, the first snacks for babies and children were developed.
Shimejito Urban Farming allows consumers to invest in urban farms that produce organic mushrooms with zero waste by processing residues from other industries. Consumers have then the possibility to buy the full farm and Shimejito manages it.
Veganchee was created to respond to consumers looking for vegetable alternatives to milk/animal products, in order to significantly improve their health condition, in this way the company creates vegetable alternatives: from cheeses (Veganchee) to yogurts and spreads.
