Ehnes Quartet: Death and the Maiden

Founded in 2010 by superstar violinist James Ehnes, the Ehnes Quartert has quickly established itself in the very top echelon of chamber groups.

In addition to Ehnes, who regularly appears in a solo role with the world’s leading orchestras, members include violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti, former concertmaster of the Oregon Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic principal cellist Robert deMaine, and violist Richard O’Neill, a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Displaying high-octane technical brilliance and finely-honed ensemble skills the group has been labeled a "dream-team" because of the high-profile credentials of all its members.

Following a 2012 Friends concert ranked one of the “Top 10 Performances of the Season “ (South Florida Classical Review), and a brilliant return engagement, audiences are eagerly anticipating a new program including quartets by Felix Mendelssohn and Dmitri Shostakovich, and featuring one of the cornerstones of the repertoire, Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden.”

Mendelssohn String Quartet No. 1 in E flat major, Op. 12

Shostakovich String Quartet No. 7 in F sharp minor, Op. 108

Schubert String Quartet No. 14 in D minor ("Death and the Maiden")
