EFT (stands for Emotional Freedom Technique) is a technique based on acupuncture and acupressure that everybody can easily practice and it is the core of a more complex technique called TFT (Thought Field Therapy). It consists on tapping or massaging acupuncture points while focusing on a traumatic event or a belief or fear that we want to release. This releases the negative energy from our body.
TFT started when Dr. Callahan, clinical psychologist, had a patient with severe water phobia– a simple bath or a rainy day would be challenging for her. After a year and a half there was little advancement, but in one session she felt digestive discomfort and Dr Callahan guided her to tap the point where the stomach meridian used in acupuncture begins, under the eye. Mary, actually got instant relief from the phobia feeling comfortabe around a swimming pool and almost going for a dive in, even though she didn’t know how to swim.
