This event will look in depth at the impact that changes to the welfare benefits system have had on disabled people and their carers, including on their mental health and ability to retain their independence. It will include Panel presentations on:

Research findings about the impact on the mental health of disabled people

Findings from Citizens Advice York of their work with disabled people trying to manage the impact of the changes, and

Personal experiences from disabled people and from carers.
There will be ample opportunity for discussion and exploring strategies for enhancing coping at an individual level and making representation for change at a strategic level.
