Event Details

Every year the Community Based Primary Health Care (CBPHC) Working Group of the International Health Section of APHA organizes a one-day workshop on the Saturday before the annual APHA conference. This year the theme of the workshop is to “Effective Community-based PHC Programs Reaching Special Populations.” The workshop will include presentations about CBPHC programs for reaching refugees, persons with disabilities, the elderly, hard to reach groups and more.

The workshop draft agenda will include experienced international health experts and professionals from the US and developing countries.  Workshop activities will allow the maximum hands-on practice and discussion about ways the tools and approaches presented can be applied for maximum impact.

CBPHC is now an area with increasing prospects for all professionals due to the Affordable Care Act, as well as internationally to achieve global health goals. This workshop will provide knowledge and skills for applying and improving the practice of CBPHC. Experienced and new professionals in the field of CBPHC are all encouraged to attend.

The registration fee is $50 dollars for professionals and $25 for students.  Coffee and tea are provided.  A boxed lunch can be purchased in advance.

If you are interested in this workshop or in getting involved in our working group, please contact the chair of the CBPHC working group, Dr Elvira Beracochea at elvira@realizingglobalhealth.com.

Networking Dinner: Most of us gather for dinner at restaurant nearby to celebrate the results of the workshop and spend a good time with colleagues and friends we see once a year. To join us for dinner after the workshop, please email Sandy Hoar at hoar@gwu.edu
