Description

Brief Description:

Ever tried to give an elevator pitch but failed because it was overly complicated? When used properly…maps and other visualizations can enhance a story by providing your audience with actionable information that is meaningful and easy to interpret. Most communication can be boiled down to effectively conveying three elements: what is the problem, what is your solution, and what are the specific benefits of your proposed solution.

Instructor Gregg Verutes will give you tools, tips, and techniques to accomplish these objectives using GIS, graphic design and web-based tools.

This class meets once per week (6:00 - 9:00 p.m.) for three weeks/sessions: Apr. 3, 10, 24 (no class Apr. 17)

Important Notes:

  • The workshop venue may change based on classroom availability. Registered students will be given advance notice if this is the case.

  • If the workshop is held, as planned, at CCSF's Mission campus, computers will be provided for workshop exercises. Alternately, students are welcome to bring their own laptops.

  • If the workshop must be moved to another venue, students will be required to bring their own wi-fi enabled laptops to class, either a PC or a Mac.

Instructor: Gregg Verutes - a data scientist and visualization specialist with extensive teaching experience!
