Telling Your Story on Video
Instructor: Monica McCarthy
Wednesday, February 6, 5pm – 6:30pm
Location: Athena Center Conference Room, Milstein Center 4th Floor

Telling your story in person is hard enough. Telling your story while the camera is rolling? Correction: telling your story live on camera for social media? These days video is the new calling card. The good news is we can all be good at it!

In this workshop we'll cover:

· Tips for Improvising and thinking on your feet

· Memorization vs off-the-cuff delivery

· Best interview practices

· Overcoming nervous habits and ticks

· Tricks of trade for looking your best on camera

· How to actually enjoy the process

Monica McCarthy is the creator and host of the live event and podcast, The Happier Hour: Philosophy To Help Life Suck Less. She is also the founder of Cheshire Parlour, a communications consulting agency bringing meaningful dialogues to communities including Holstee, Impact Hub, 92Y, and Escape The City, where she has curated and facilitated hundreds of events focused on purpose and interdisciplinary connections. Most recently, Monica is honored to be a Founding Faculty Member for The School of Life in North America.

Monica is also an actress and on-air host, and has performed on Broadway and in television and film, from from NYC to LA to Japan to the UK. She coaches professionals on public speaking, interviewing, and on-camera performance techniques.

Speaking of travel, Monica's passport is never far away. So far her travels have taken her to about 50 countries on 6 continents and counting. But she still has zero sense of direction.
