Welcome to the Edward Kennedy Guest Lecture - A Health System at Risk, The Trump Administration and the Future of U.S. Health Policy

There is a fierce debate underway over the future of the U.S. health system. The Trump Administration seeks to dramatically scale back the nation’s publicly funded health insurance programs, shrink and reshape the nation’s public health system, and significantly reduce the nation’s contribution to the global health system.

In this talk, Professor Michael Sparer reviews the substance and the politics of these shocks to the current system and considers the likely impacts as well, both in the short and long-term.

Professor Sparer is the Jackson Chair of Health Policy in the Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) at Columbia University and also the Director of the Center for Public Health Systems in HPM.

The previous speakers at our Edward Kennedy Guest Lectures have been Prof Greg Marchildon and Dr Josep Figueras.
