Event description
Do your students have a clear sense of their purpose? Do you?

About this Event

Interested in learning how to help high school students explore, articulate, and pursue their purpose in life by implementing nXu’s purpose development curriculum? Join us for our 2 session online training!

Why purpose?

Purpose is a fundamental human motive that is at the root of major markers of success throughout one’s life. For youth and adults, purpose is essential for physical, mental, and emotional well-being; academic & professional success; and life satisfaction. Yet, less than 25% of high school students and only 50% of adults have a clear sense of purpose.

What will you learn?

The training will consist of two 2 ½ hour sessions. During the training, you will:

  • Learn how to incorporate nXu’s evidence-based, purpose development methodology and curriculum into your school and classroom.
  • Learn best-practice strategies for building and establishing the culture and community necessary for purpose learning.
  • Receive concrete instructional tools and resources.
  • Plan and practice facilitating purpose learning lessons and activities and receive real-time coaching and feedback.
  • Connect with other passionate educators interested in exposing their students to purpose development.

You should join us if:

You are an educator focused on high school students--especially if you are a teacher leader, school administrator, district leader, or youth program leader--and are interested in learning about purpose development and concretely planning how to integrate purpose development programming into your classroom, school, district, or organization.

Who will lead the session?

Jabali Sawicki, nXu’s lead facilitator with over 20 years of education experience, will lead nXu’s trainings. Prior to nXu, Jabali served as the Senior Director of Inspire at Relay Graduate School of Education and the lead on-camera instructor for Zearn, an online math program used by more than 2.5 million students. Jabali also served as the founding principal and Head of School of Excellence Boys Charter School of Bedford Stuyvesant, the first single-sex public charter school in New York State. Jabali currently sits on the National Board of Summer Search, a leadership development program focused on low income youth, and the Board of Uncommon Schools in New York City.

What is the schedule?

Sessions will be held on Tuesday, February 23 and Tuesday, March 2 from 12:00pm - 2:30pm PST/ 2:00pm - 4:30pm CST/ 3:00pm - 5:30pm EST on Zoom.

What is nXu?

nXu is a non-profit organization whose mission is to catalyze and equip youth and adults to explore, articulate, and pursue their purpose. Here is a video about nXu and a document describing nXu’s curriculum and program developed in partnership with Transcend Education.

What educators are saying about nXu?

"The energy and joy and community were amazing. Also the process and clear frameworks made it feel tangible and accessible!"

"I'm impressed by how much we accomplished in a short amount of time. The session was well-paced and, not surprisingly, each activity had a purpose. The session was interactive, motivational, and thoughtfully designed. There was clearly a lot of intentionality put into making this session successful."

"This was the most inspiring and empowering workshop I've been to. Jabali's voice and positive presenting energy was felt from the very moment it began. I was motivated and excited to do the work. This did not feel like a workshop completed over zoom. It was live, real and full of love!"

Cost?

$500 USD per person. Early bird pricing ($400) ends January 31, 2021 at 11:59pm.
