Guest Speaker: Keegan Korf, Lead Teacher | Digital Citizenship
OPS | Common Sense Media
Digital Citizenship Week was October 16th – 22nd this year – a week devoted to helping kids learn how to manage their online reputations, deal with issues such as cyberbullying, and conduct themselves safely online. We invite you to learn ways to help educate youth and parents on how to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in today's online world, and some of the new technology options OPS is working to implement in schools.
About Keegan Korf: “As a former advertiser, writing, media, and technology are my passions. As an educator, I aspire to motivate students to pursue their passions and develop their skills in order to become whatever they desire to be. In my role as the Lead Teacher of Digital Citizenship for Omaha Public Schools in partnership with Common Sense Media, I work with educators to integrate digital citizenship lessons into their existing curriculum. I also serve as a community outreach liaison who provides education to parents and community members, teaching them how to have dialogue with children about digital media use.” http://opsmrskorf.edublogs.org/about-the-author-keegan-korf/
The ADL's Educator Speakers Series is made possible through funding from the Omaha Schools Foundation. These events open to the public at no cost. Each presentation topic focuses on an evolving issue in education as it relates to the mission of the ADL. Teachers, administrators, and direct service providers are exposed to unique material and presenters, and given the opportunity to have open dialog about the topics.
