Homeless Services United (HSU) presents a free training held by the New York State Technical and Education Assistance Center for Homeless Students (NYS-TEACHS) and information on open enrollment at Broome Street Academy, a charter high school that prioritizes students in temporary housing.

A Key to Success: Supporting Education Access & Achievement for Children and Youth in Temporary Housing

Topics Include:

  • Brief overview on education outcomes for children experiencing housing instability
  • School enrollment
  • How to work with families to promote school stability
  • Yellow bus transportation and MetroCards
  • School funds for uniforms, school supplies, etc.
  • Supporting college access

Target Audience:

  • All shelter staff, including shelter directors and case managers
  • DOE staff, including school staff and shelter-based Family Assistants
