Educational Event Synopsis

Incredibly enough, IT Assurance subjects have not featured regularly in the Malta Chapter’s educational event programs over the past years. Probably because this area is considered standard academic stuff, that is not as exciting and inspiring as hot topics like Cybersecurity, Big Data and AI.

While the latter is indeed true, IT Assurance remains the cornerstone of ISACA, and IT auditors should often exchange best practices and discuss challenges in their professional field. This area should also be of interest to nonauditors but who might themselves be auditees, as it will help them to understand better why and how IT auditors are carrying out their duties.

Auditors can audit anything – BUT NOT EVERYTHING! Taking a risk-based approach to IT audit can help focus limited resources on the real threats to the organisation. Fast-moving changes in technology have added to the potential risks companies face. It is not always easy for senior management to wrap their arms around IT risks confronting their organisation. However, IT auditors can help shed light on the issue through Risk-Based IT Audit Planning, which will be discussed during this session.
