Ok, maybe not superpowers, but feel empowered in an IEP or 504 meeting!
For families, professionals, anyone! Great for families of 2 year olds who will be attending first IEP within the year.
Six (6) online sessions make up the basic curriculum of the Advocacy Support & Training (ASTra), a trademarked program from Hands & Voices Headquarters.
MONDAYS 8:00pm-9:30pm The first hour is presentation, followed by 30 minute optional discussion. Plan to attend ALL 6 online sessions to receive your certificate:
- 1/13 Intro to Special Education, IEP, and Section 504
- 1/20 Considerations for Students who are DHH
- 1/27 Eligibility
- 2/3 Assessment and Evaluation
- 2/10 Individual Educational Plan (IEP)
- 2/17 IEP Meeting Planning/Tools

Trainer Janel Frost: Janel is Executive Director and ASTra Coordinator for Michigan Hands & Voices. She's mom to four children. Her third is "Deafplus," meaning deaf plus other conditions. Janel has 13 years of experience with Hands & Voices, and 23 years in Human Services/Child Development.
Trainer Tabitha Belhorn: Tabby is the Executive Director and ASTra Coordinator of Ohio Hands & Voices. She has three children, the oldest of whom is deaf and graduating high school! She is also an ASTra Trainer for Hands & Voices Headquarters and has been a passionate advocate for over 15 years.
