In collaboration with diverse campus and community partners, the Center for Social Justice coordinates Education Week to raise awareness about both the challenges and celebrations within the current field of education.

Monday, October 16,
- 5:00pm. Arrupe Multipurpose Room. Screening of “On the Other Side of the Fence,” with guest speakers Kyra Hanlon (F’16) and Kerri Hanlon, sister and mother of star of the documentary, Sean Hanlon. Dinner served.
- 6:30pm. Learn about the Post-Graduate Teaching Service Program, Alliance for Catholic Education. Dinner at the Home of Chaplain-in-Residence Michelle Siemietkowski. Register Here. This event is part of CSJ's Options Series.

Tuesday, October 17
- 7:00pm. Leavey Center Program Room. CSJ Workshop: African American Vernacular English with Minnie Quartley, PhD student in Linguistics. Refreshments provided.

Wednesday, October 18
- Farmer’s Market at Red Square. Visit our table for fundraising efforts for Cristo Rey High School in Houston, Texas.
- 1:30-3:30pm. Tutor/Mentor Appreciation - Espresso Bar, Pie Sisters, and Relaxing Activities at Center for Social Justice (130 Poulton Hall).

Thursday, October 19
- 6:30-7:30pm. Arrupe Multipurpose Room. TBC - Panel on careers in Higher Education Policy with GU Politics. More info coming!
- 7:00pm. Reiss 112. CSJ Workshop: Motivating the Reluctant Reader: Strategies and Skills with Professor Ann Kennedy. Refreshments provided.

Friday, October 20
- 11:00am-1:30pm. WGR 201B. Join the Program on Justice and Peace for two awesome scholars-teachers on Education and Social Justice: Dr. Hakim Williams (Gettysburg College) and Dr. Priya LaLonde (Georgetown University). (Bring your own lunch. Drinks and desserts provided.)
- 7:00-9:00pm. Arrupe Multipurpose Room. DC Reads 20th Anniversary and Reflection Dinner. To close out the Center for Social Justice's Education Week, DC Reads invites all to celebrate their 20th Anniversary with reflections from alumni, community partners, and current tutors. Please gather with us for dinner and refreshments as we celebrate all that the program has accomplished through its tenure at Georgetown.
