Description

The 100 Black Men of America, Inc. has been educating and empowering youth for over three decades. The original concept of providing education and support to youth began with a group of African American men in New York in 1963 which has been 55 years. Today, hundreds of chapters work with local school systems, along with corporate and community partners, to deliver educational support services and unique learning opportunities that assist youth in achieving their educational goals.

As a leader in mentoring, educating and empowering youth, it was a natural progression for 100 Black Men to become partners and sponsors with schools. In some locations, 100 chapters have charted and are operating schools. The themes of achieving excellence and partnering with school boards, parents and the community resonates across all these schools. The 100’s education initiatives inspire confidence, create cultural awareness and foster academic leadership.

The Education Choice Community Summit featuring Dr. Steve Perry is an extension of the work being done to education parentsabout the spectrum of viable educational opportunities available to them and their children. Dr. Perry is one of most sought after educators in America. Widely respected by grassroots community members and internationally renowned leaders, his charismatic and compelling voice is an inspiration. He is the educator Oprah Winfrey, Sean "P-Diddy" Combs, Bishop TD Jakes and Steve Harvey call on to offer insight to parents and children. A diverse array of politicians and groups, from the Urban League to ALEC, even President Donald Trump, have reached out to Dr. Perry to better understand what matters to parents.

Dr. Perry opened his third school, helped Steve Harvey write his new book "Jump," has spoken in over 79 communities and completed his sixth book "Transparanting" within the past 12 months. His impact is profound and varied and showing no signs of slowing down.

The word most often used to describe Dr. Perry is passionate. His authenticity is a welcomed addition to any discussion rooted in improving children's lives and the community. His skills are hard-fought and have been bestowed from his rough childhood all the way up through his graduation from an Ivy League school. There's a richness in his concepts that foster an intriguing point of view on the modern American family.

Dr. Steve Perry's unique and powerful voice is respected and has been featured on MSNBC, Fox, CNN, Al Jazeera, TV One, BET and NBC as well as on the Oprah Winfrey network in multiple shows. His courage and piercing insights provides a fascinating perspective that is not often found in public discourse. Too often race, class, gender and political affiliations mute others voices. Dr. Perry fearlessly speaks from the heart, which births unpredictability. Dr. Steve Perry is the voice of a generation, a people's champion who has been fighting for disadvantaged children and families for 30 years. Passionate and surprisingly funny, Dr. Steve Perry is a man worth listening to.

There will be a free box lunch and childcare will be provided for those who need it.
