This workshop is for special educators, administrators, general educators & related service providers (ideally as teams). School teams will have guided planning time to explore and practice advanced behavioral and systematic instructional strategies for students with behavioral challenges (including but not limited to, individuals with social/emotional and/or mental health disabilities, individuals on the Autism Spectrum, and students with low-incidence disabilities).

This two-day workshop guides school teams through the process of identifying and teaching skill deficits related to challenging behaviors. Instruction techniques will include contingency based approaches (direct teaching), embedded generalization, stimulus equivalence and relational frames. Targeted skills include expressive communication, antecedent-based interventions, naturalistic strategies, explicit instruction, social skills, and peer-based interventions. Day two goes deeper into the concepts through curriculum frameworks including the PEAK Relational Training System.

Lunch is not provided.

Clock Hours: No; University Credit: Yes

Credit information will be available onsite. An option for one credit (Educating the Difficult Learner face-to-face training only) or two credits (Educating the Difficult Learner face-to-face and 4 live webinars) will be available through Boise State University or University of Idaho.
