Event description

Description

Fragile X Syndrome is the most common known inherited cause of learning disabilities, affecting around 1 in 4000 males and 1 in 8000 females. It can cause a wide range of difficulties with learning, as well as social, language, attentional, emotional, and behavioral problems.

The Fragile X Society, in partnership with the Patrick Wild Centre, are excited to be running a series of “Educate to Empower” Roadshows throughout Scotland.

Funded by The Big Lottery Awards for All, the events are aimed at raising awareness of Fragile X and the importance of timely diagnosis and support for families. It will also be an opportunity for professionals to network with one another and families over some light refreshments and find out more about the work of The Fragile X Society and The Patrick Wild Centre. We will also be launching a new information pack aimed at newly diagnosed families.

We would particularly welcome representatives from genetic centres, Child Development Teams, CAMHS teams and Adult Learning Disability Teams or any professionals working with families at point of diagnosis.
