EDU 5440 Middle School Mission & Methods – 3 Grad Credits
Mon, Jun 12, 2017, 8:00 AM – Fri, Jun 16, 2017, 4:30 PM CDT
New requirements for the Middle Grade endorsement will be implemented on February 1, 2018.
The West 40 ISC#2 will be offering the 2 Middle School Courses through Aurora University this summer for those who want to obtain this endorsement before the new rules take effect.
This course explores some of the key issues surrounding middle schools and analyzes these issues in an attempt to clarify the changing roles of the schools, teachers and students in our increasingly complex multicultural society. Using current research, case studies, and class projects, teacher candidates discuss and analyze issues that shape middle level educational institutions and current practices. Included is an examination of strategies for reading in the middle school content areas. Teacher candidates explore strategies teachers use to address related classroom issues and construct the “ideal” middle school.
Advance payment is required to reserve your enrollment. A minimum of 10 participants per course will be required. If that number is not met, your enrollment fee will be refunded.
