Event Details

The eDiscoveryJournal, the only working analyst firm focused exclusively on eDiscovery and information governance, will be holding an eDiscovery Bootcamp in the Pittsburgh area on May 6, 2013. This CLE accredited course will feature in-depth education around the topic of Predictive Coding. During this program, eDJ Analysts will deliver research-based education in three hour-long modules, each supplemented by one to two attorneys from the Pittsburgh area.

Description: A Q & A session involving some of the leading judges in electronic discovery and local judges if available to provide insights into how courts respond to technology such as predictive coding. Issues we will focus on include:

  • Getting a Courts Approval and the role that cooperation plays
  • How to validate results – what is good enough?
  • Do the rules require perfection?
  • Does using technology for review require a Daubert hearing?
  • The ethical obligation of lawyers to become familiar with new technology.
  • What needs to be shared with the other side. • Employing a special master to speed the process along.

Description: A comprehensive overview of predictive coding including:

3:00 – 3:30 Networking break

3:30 – 5:00 Topic Module #3: Validating Predictive Coding Results

Description: This session will focus on how to know when you are done while not ending up in a cooperation nightmare. We will review how to set statistical goals, the basics of sampling, and training as an iterative loop until the goals appear to be met. We will also examine the role of validation tests and how to employ different types of validation from the common sense approach to statistical belts and suspenders.
