Event description

Description

WE ARE THE CREATIVE COUNSELLING MOVEMENT and we are passionate about bringing creative counselling interventions into mainstream models!

These creative therapeutic skills shares are being funded by Facebook and rolled out across the UK as part of our Creative Counselling Movements "BIG RIPPLE PROJECT".

You are invited to explore creative counselling tools with other members of The Creative Counsellors Club (although this is also open to welcoming new members) and to bring your own creative materials and ideas to share with the group! These groups aim to:

INSPIRE you to feel more confident in your approach to working creatively in the counselling room

CONNECT you with more like-minded counsellors to network, collaborate and tackle counsellor isolation

WHAT IS A SKILLS SHARE? An opportunity to network and connect with other counsellors through a shared love for all things creative. A skilled facilitator will host the sessions around a creative intervention topic and you are encouraged to bring creative tools and ideas to share within the group to enable exploration and to build confidence within your client work.

Session 1: “Who am I?”
Working with nesting dolls, animals...(aspects of the self)

Session 2: “Unfinished Business”. Working with art, fairy tales...(unconscious process/relationships)

Session 3: “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”
Working with Timelines, Mindfulness, Goal Setting...

Session 4: “Blocks in Therapy”
Working with Sand Trays (if physically possible), Clay, Masks...

ABOUT YOUR FACILITATOR:

My name is Juulia and I am your facilitator for these meet ups.

I am a BACP registered counsellor working with clients in Edinburgh. Through my private practice I see clients who are experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties and work with individual companies to provide employee assistance and run workshops around communication and mental health. Alongside my private clients, I manage a specialist counselling service which provides free to access counselling to people of all genders affected by a pregnancy or early-parenting related issue.

My practice employs a pluralistic approach to therapy. This way of working emphasises the importance of valuing client strengths, ideas and knowledge in the therapeutic process. Pluralistic practice also takes the stance that therapy is rarely one size fits all. Thus, in therapy I aim to work collaboratively with my clients to find an approach that makes sense to them personally and that they find helpful. In the process of collaborating on what will work best for a particular client, I will draw from a number of different therapeutic models and ways of working. I have experience working with narrative therapy, gestalt therapy, person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and transactional analysis. I also often use creative techniques in my work where these are appropriate and appealing to my client.
