Event description

Description

Local residents will have the chance to question the candidates standing for the Edgbaston seat in the General Election at our hustings taking place from 18:00 – 19:30 on Tuesday 30 May in the Elgar Concert Hall, Bramall Music Building at the University of Birmingham.

Following 20 years as the constituency’s MP, Gisela Stuart (Labour) is stepping down from Parliament meaning Edgbaston will have a new Member of Parliament at the 2017 election. This event provides a great opportunity to hear from local candidates from across the political parties on local and national issues in the run up to the General Election.

Joining us will be Prospective Parliamentary Candidates: Colin Green (Liberal Democrat), Alice Kiff (Green), Dick Rodgers (Common Good, Europe Needs Us), Caroline Squire (Conservative) and a representative of Preet Gill (Labour).

Marc Reeves, Editor of the Birmingham Mail and Editor-in-Chief, Trinity Mirror Midlands, will moderate the event, which will be hosted by Professor Simon Collinson, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Regional Economic Engagement at the University of Birmingham.

This event is open to all: University students, staff and the general public.
