EDDIE & MARTHA ADCOCK

W/ TOM GRAY

Eddie & Tom are members of the "Classic" configuration of The Country Gentlemen. Tom later became a founding member of the Seldom Scene, Washington's most popular bluegrass band. And after meeting in the 70s, Eddie and Martha created Newgrass Music with their trailblazing band the Second Generation.

Legendary banjo player, Eddie Adcock has been one of bluegrass music’s most revolutionary performers for over fifty years. He cut his musical teeth with Bill Monroe and Mac Wiseman, and played in the groundbreaking group The Country Gentlemen, one of the most popular and progressive bluegrass bands of the late ’50s and ’60s. His work with his wife, Martha Adcock, has garnered three Grammy nominations as well as appearances at the Kennedy Center. Adcock was the first internationally acclaimed five-string bluegrass banjo player to appear at Carnegie Hall. He was also inducted into the IBMA’s prestigious Hall of Fame.

No one plays more bass and seems less willing to take credit for his own genius than Tom Gray. He invariably plays interesting notes in just the right places. Since his days with the Country Gentlemen, he has proven his instrument expressive and versatile in contributing to the bluegrass style. Tom was also inducted into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame in 2014 for his work with the original Seldom Scene.

FAQs:

Where do I park?

Bright Box is located at 15 N. Loudoun St. on the beautiful pedestrian mall in Old Town Winchester. The nearest parking is the Braddock Auto Park at 30 N Braddock St. This is about a block away from the venue. The parking garage does have several handicap parking spaces available.

Once you've parked in the garage you'll exit toward the pedestrian mall. Once you hit N. Loudoun you'll make a right and Bright Box will be on your right a few storefronts up, directly across from the Old Court House Civil War Museum

More information about the garage can be found here: https://www.winchesterva.gov/parking/garage-information

Is there lodging nearby?

There are lots of great and affordable lodging options — from hotels and motels to camp grounds and bed & breakfast spots — just minutes away from Bright Box. Right around the block is the elegant George Washington Hotel, and Courtyard Marriott is quick drive and within a stones throw to the beautiful (and highly recommended) Shenandoah Valley Museum.
