Ecstatic Dance NYC returns to Union Square - where it all started - to celebrate the one-year anniversary of this offering and community.
Rebecca Bone teaches "Dancing and Being Danced," a Contact Improv-based Warm Up class, from 7-8pm
About the Warmup: In this hour-long class we will warm up to dancing by exploring moving thru the space by ourselves and with each other while holding our attention in this meeting point of internal and external. We will explore some basic practices of dancing in contact with another person (Contact Improv) and discover how that connection can enrich our dancing.
Haale lights us up with a musical Invocation, between DJ sets.
AJ Block doses us with the healing vibrations of his didgeridoo, as we close our night.
Dan Baker stimulates our senses with visual art projections ALL NIGHT LONG.

$mall ¢hange was the first-ever Ecstatic Dance NYC DJ, kicking off a year of awesome, at Jivamukti Yoga School, on March 24, 2012. We're so glad to have had him on our dance floor all year, and to have him back at the helm, on March 27, 2013!
Joro-Boro returns to the helm, after a very memorable, very sweaty, very nourishing Ecstatic Dance journey at St. Mark's Church in The Bowery, in August 2012. Like, whoa. Looking forward to dancing with him again, and to what's he's got in store for us all, on March 27!
Rebecca Bone has been practicing Contact Improvisation for 6 years and performing dance improvisation since 2003. She is a freelance dancer with independent choreographers in NYC and is developing her own work in dance improvisation performance in collaboration with violist Richard Kim.
It wouldn't be an Ecstatic Dance gathering in NYC without AJ Block as our Sound Healer. He'll be sharing his magical didgeridoo vibrations with us, after three hours of music by Joro-Boro and $mall ¢hange.
Between DJ sets, Haale will enliven us with a musical Invocation. She is a super talented musician, based here in NYC, who performs around town with her amazing band, The Mast. We're excited and honored to have her in our space!
Dan Baker, of PORTL.tv, will share visuals with the dance floor and space all night long. We're honored to have our good friend join us for on 3.27, and hope that this is the first of many collaborations with him!
About $mall ¢hange
Brooklyn-based DJ $mall ¢hange has been a key ingredient of many conscious dance events in the past few years, including Get Your Dance On and No Parking on the Dancefloor. He's known and celebrated for his bottomless well of music from more genres than most of us know exist. He looooves to dance and hoop, and supports the Flow Arts and Hooping communities here in NYC with frequent gatherings in Brooklyn.

Joro-Boro was born in Bulgaria. He plays and promotes etnoteck, glitch-folk and post-national bass – the dirty local side of globalization force-fed back into a party without borders detonating the conglomerated mono-culture.
Joro-Boro hosted MoGlo (Modern Global) on Radio New York 91.5FM, has toured with Balkan Beat Box, and has performed with artists ranging from Bassnectar to Tinariwen.

About AJ Block
For nearly half a decade AJ Block has advocated the path to deeper connection through sound. AJ is one of New York City’s premier didgeridoo players and is a co-founder of Didge Project. AJ has performed for audiences all around the world and has brought the didgeridoo into many new contexts including therapeutic events at wellness centers and genre-defying music ensembles. Ultimately AJ sees the didgeridoo and its emphasis on breath control as one of the most powerful tools for self-healing and empowerment. Visit the Didge Project website for more info about AJ and his work!
