Overview

Ecstatic Sound and Movement Journey with Cacao - Winter Solstice

Join Ecstatic Dance Berkshire (founded by Alison from Just BE Sound and Movement Therapy) for this Ecstatic Dance. Experience the physical, emotional and mental wellbeing benefits of sound and movement therapy, in a uniquely safe and sober space as we celebrate the Winter Solstice .

In the northern hemisphere, this is the shortest day of the year, and is the first day of Winter in the astronomical calendar. At a point where darkness appears to triumph over light, it's a time of great stillness in nature, a point where the sun appears to stand still. Moving into harmony with nature, it's a time to go within, into the silence and darkness, to connect with your own light, knowing it will always shine. Let the energies of the changing seasons bring deep reflection and create space for transformation.

Join us as we dance our way into Winter!

Please arrive in time for a 730 start to guarantee entry to the event.

THE JOURNEY

Enter the hall space in sacred silence from 7.20pm and join us in meditation.

At 7.30pm, sitting in circle, you'll be guided through a short centring practice, with an invitation to scan the body, emotions and mind. This practice is an opportunity to bring more presence to your experience and to connect more deeply with your self and your heart.

As we move into our cacao ceremony, we pass our Guatemalan cacao around the circle with love, before practicing gratitude and setting intentions together.

We'll begin our movement journey together with a little guidance to warm up.

Movement is conscious, intuitive and spontaneous as you allow the vibrations of the sound to resonate in whichever way feels right for you. The invitation is to disconnect the mind and connect with the body freely, noticing any self-judgement and any fears around judgement from others.

The evening will close with a mini sound bath and a short closing circle with fruit, and some optional time to socialise.

Together we co-create a safe container, offering respect to our fellow dancers and their space, keeping to the guidelines of no chat, no shoes, no drugs, no alcohol.

THE MUSIC

Each dance is a soundwave journey, with the music being intuitively chosen from an eclectic mix of different genres. The experience is less about the type of music and more about how all aspects of your being relates to it. You'll be invited to be curious with your exploration of your body and movements, to bring moment by moment awareness to what's moving through you.

Contraindications: Ceremonial Cacao is not recommended for anyone in the first trimester of pregnancy, with a serious heart condition, epilepsy or taking antidepressants. If you would like to still attend and take a much lower dose, you can do so at your own risk. Our Cacao is First Grade Ceremonial Cacao. Cacao is a powerful plant medicine that contains iron, zinc, potassium, copper, and magnesium which contribute to cardiovascular health. It is said to have benefits for depression as it contains anandamide, the bliss molecule and has the ability to trigger the release of dopamine and endorphins and increase serotonin. Cacao also has powerful antioxidants and can balance blood sugar levels by increasing the blood flow to the brain. This helps with focus and awareness. Cacao also has spiritual and emotional benefits and can help us to connect with our higher self, tune in to our intuition and access transformational states.
