Ecstatic Dance Berkshire Takeover - The Hero's Journey With The Didge Guy
Overview
This event will be held on behalf of Ecstatic Dance Berkshire, by David, The Didge Guy, and Sarah Steel.
Join David as he facilitates this Ecstatic Dance with the theme of 'The Hero's Journey'.
We have all taken The Hero's Journey at some point, in some form in our lives. These journeys are often walked in solitude coming from a resolution where there is no fanfare or welcome home party for the workyou have done.
Not this time! No matter your trials in life, we will dance our way through The Hero's Journey as a group energy. This group energy will be supportive, understanding, non-judgemental and celebratory. For one another.
The Hero's Journey will be a mix of The Didge Guy's own music and music from other artists mixed live, followed by a short sound bath. There will definitely be some didgeridoo at the start and end of this event!
Please arrive in time for a 730 start to guarantee entry to the event.
THE JOURNEY
Enter the hall space in sacred silence from 7.20pm and join us for a 7.30 start.
Sarah Steel will lead us through a cacao ceremony before the sound and movement journey begins.
With Ecstatic Dance, movement is conscious, intuitive and spontaneous as you allow the vibrations of the sound to resonate in whichever way feels right for you. The invitation is to disconnect the mind and connect with the body freely, noticing any self-judgement and any fears around judgement from others.
Together we co-create a safe container, offering respect to our fellow dancers and their space, keeping to the guidelines of no chat, no shoes, no drugs, no alcohol.
THE MUSIC
Each dance is a soundwave journey, with the music being intuitively chosen from an eclectic mix of different genres. The experience is less about the type of music and more about how all aspects of your being relates to it. You'll be invited to be curious with your exploration of your body and movements, to bring moment by moment awareness to what's moving through you.

WHAT OUR DANCERS SAY
'What an experience, mind blowing, loved every minute of it!'
‘That was the best experience of my life! To feel no judgement in a room full of people!’
'How does ecstatic dance feel? Like you are truly in your own world, letting your body take in and respond to wonderful music....to really FEEL the music and what that brings up in your body. '
'As a newbie to this type of dance, I've tried it a handful of times and am completely hooked. I had never danced before and was very self-conscious at first, I'm overjoyed at how liberating and natural this feels and it is now one of my core activities for self -and soul nourishment!’

Contraindications: Ceremonial Cacao is not recommended for anyone in the first trimester of pregnancy, with a serious heart condition, epilepsy or taking antidepressants. If you would like to still attend and take a much lower dose, you can do so at your own risk. Our Cacao is First Grade Ceremonial Cacao. Cacao is a powerful plant medicine that contains iron, zinc, potassium, copper, and magnesium which contribute to cardiovascular health. It is said to have benefits for depression as it contains anandamide, the bliss molecule and has the ability to trigger the release of dopamine and endorphins and increase serotonin. Cacao also has powerful antioxidants and can balance blood sugar levels by increasing the blood flow to the brain. This helps with focus and awareness. Cacao also has spiritual and emotional benefits and can help us to connect with our higher self, tune in to our intuition and access transformational states.

David Atkinson - Sound Healing, Meditation & Event Support - Nomadic Therapist
David is a key member of the Ecstatic Dance Berkshire Team. His deep connection with Earth energies and sound has most recently led him to hold sacred sound baths in West Kennet Long Barrow. A talented musician, he plays didgeridoo, handpan, drum and bowls, and often plays during or after Ecstatic Dances. In particular, his didgeridoo playing has been well received by the dance community, as the vibrations bring new depths to the journeys and create space for deep healing. He also leads meditations, walks and teaches dowsing.
Sarah Steel is a breathwork facilitator, meditation teacher and reiki master. Sarah is also trained in the art of cacao ceremony in which she has embraced the rich history and mindful preparation of cacao as a pathway to healing and presence. Through this sacred practice, she invites cacao to journey alongside you, creating intentional spaces for soul journeys, meditation, transformation and heartfelt connection.
