Solo classical and world music guitarist Almer Imamovic performs a selection of the timeless compositions created for the Spanish guitar. Expect "Asturias," by Isaac Albeniz and "Recuerdos de la Alhambra," by Francisco Tarrega among others. Classical Spanish and flamenco dancer Susana Elena performs a selection of dances from Spain and Gypsy Spain to recorded music. Each number is prefaced by a short introduction. Bring the kids! We feature special interactive activities for children ages 5+ during the course of the performance. A brief introductory castanet lesson is offered to those interested after the show. Mr. Imamovic, a native of Bosnia, is an award-winning musician, composer and arranger who has performed nationally and internationally. His composition, "Stani Draga," was featured by Angelina Joli in her 2011 movie, "In the Land of Blood and Honey." He holds a master's degree from USC Thornton School of Music, is a professor of guitar studies at Ocidental College and owns Sierra Madre Music, a teaching and retail store in Sierra Madre, CA. www.almanovaduo.com
Susan Elena is a classical Spanish and flamenco dancer who has studied in Sevilla, Jerez de la Frontera and Madrid, Spain. She is certified by the L.A. County Arts Commission to teach and perform Standards-based dance in schools.
