Event description

Description

As part of our Ecology Series of educational nature hikes, Robin Hills Farm will host monthly birding walks for all ages and experience levels, with avid birder and Washtenaw Audubon Society board member Jessica Adamczyk. These two-hour walks will follow a leisurely pace around the many rich habitat zones of the farm, with a focus on learning both visual and auditory identification skills. Participants should bring water, appropriate footwear and attire for the outdoors. RHF will supply binoculars to anyone who does not bring their own.

In November, the skies fill with late-season migrants like ducks and raptors, as well as some bird species from the far north that spend the winter in Michigan. In addition to providing tips and tricks for identification, Jessica will discuss the adaptive reasons behind the behaviors the class observes in bird populations around the RHF site.

Jessica Adamczyk has been a passionate birder for ten years, pursuing her field studies across four continents. She volunteers for the Ann Arbor Natural Area Preservation's Breeding Bird Surveys, and monitors Eastern Bluebird nestboxes for the Southeast Michigan Land Conservancy. She also serves on the board for the Washtenaw Audubon Society.
