About the Foundation Course

Sponsored by Denver Housing Authority, the EcoDistricts Foundation Course in Denver will immerse attendees in the approach and tools to create EcoDistricts, a unique standard for urban and community development that puts equity, resilience, and climate protection at the heart of every decision.

This course is for planners, architects, developers, community development professionals, and municipal leaders seeking to advance their skills, apply the EcoDistricts standard, and/or become an EcoDistricts Accredited Professional.

About the Instructors

Rob Bennett, CEO, EcoDistricts – Rob is the founding CEO of EcoDistricts. He is a recognized leader in the sustainable cities movement with 20 years of experience shaping municipal sustainable development projects and policy. Prior to launching EcoDistricts, Rob was the Executive Director of the Portland Sustainability Institute, a nonprofit founded by Mayor Sam Adams to accelerate sustainability policy and project innovation in Portland and worked for the Clinton Foundation supporting climate action in North American cities. Between 1998-2005, Rob worked for the cities of Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Canada developing green development market transformation initiatives. Rob was a founding board member of the Cascadia Green Building Council and a board member of REACH Community Development. He holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst School of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning.

Brionté McCorkle, Director of Engagement, EcoDistricts – Brionté joined the EcoDistricts team as Director of Engagement in late 2017 to lead the organization’s communications and storytelling and to plan, manage and successfully implement the annual EcoDistricts Summit. She believes that people from all walks of life deserve to live in healthy, sustainable and connected communities in which everyone can fully engage and be successful. Brionté has worked at organizations on stormwater and water conservation, energy and water efficiency, financial dignity, transportation, and environmental justice. She recently served as the Assistant Director of the Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club. In 2014 and 2016, she helped lead the organization’s successful efforts to expand transit in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Brionté earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from Georgia State University.
