Eco-Style Costa Rica Adventure: Hiking, Zip Lines, Kayaking, Coffe Farm Tour, River Safari, Night Jungle, Hot Springs, Beach & Snorkeling

What we will do:


Day 1:  Arrival to Costa Rica. Airport pick up and transfer to Arenal volcano area.



We will stay in a sustainable rainforest eco-lodge that offers an intimate experience of primary rainforest together with a certified organic biodynamic farm.  The eco lodge features: pool, sauna, spa services and organic food.



Our friends on the farm:



Day 2 – Breakfast. Farm tour:  a walk through cacao orchard and biointensive garden where you will taste numerous plants and herbs. After the garden you will see pigs, goats, and chickens and learn how they contribute to the sustainability of the farm. Lunch. River Safari (slow rafting expedition) .The Peñas Blancas is a slow-flowing river, which makes it perfect for wildlife observation. As you float down the river, your experienced guide will teach you about the surrounding area and help you to spot monkeys, sloths, iguanas, caimans, and different kinds of tropical birds. 
Late Afternoon visit to Hot Springs. Finish the day with traditional Costa Rican meal.

Day 3 Breakfast. Option 1:  A walking tour to La Fortuna Waterfall. Those that are feeling especially brave are invited to swim in the refreshing waters beneath the falls. Typical Costa Rican lunch at a local restaurant in La Fortuna. After lunch guided hike in Arenal National Park led by a  local Naturalist Guide.  Arenal Volcano, with its almost perfect cone, soars 1,633 meters above sea level and has a crater 140 meters deep. From time to time loud explosions are heard and a mushroom cloud of gray, brown, orange or blue smoke billows out of the top. Return to our lodge. Dinner. 
Option 2: Physically demanding hike to the top of Cerro Chato Volcano. The hike passes through the primary rainforest. From the summit, we will walk down to the green lagoon (an old volcano crater) where we can swim and enjoy the surrounding. Return to the lodge.  Dinner

Day 4  Breakfast. Transfer to Monteverde. Arrival to an eco-lodge/dairy farm located on 300 acre property privately owned by a family of a renown Costa Rican biologist and Ecotourism pioneer. The family uses only 30% of their land - the rest is saved for wildlife and protection of the Cloud Forest. Organic Lunch. Farm and Jungle  horseback ride. We will transverse Monteverde Cloud Forest and the patches of Primary Forest, across streams and some open areas always filled with wildlife. Dinner. Night Jungle Hike. Hike in the deep areas of Private Reserve along with its untouched pristine streams in search of kinkajou,  raccoon, sloth, tayra, owl, to the small tree frogs, vine snakes, lizards, spiders and moth.

Day 5  Breakfast. Coffee Tour. Visit a local coffee farm and observe the coffee making process from the crop to the cup.  The tour ends at a coffee shop, where participants are invited to taste a variety of roasts and if so inclined, purchase a pound or two of fresh coffee. Lunch. Option 1: Zip Lines. There are 15 cables and 18 viewing platforms that stretch over 2 miles – the longest cable length of any canopy tour in Costa Rica. Furthermore, there is a so-called “Tarzan Swing” at the end of the tour, a large, swing-like contraption that allows participants to swing out above the forest. 
Option 2: Hanging Bridges. Naturalist guide leads you through virgin cloud forest via the tree top walkways, one of the most amazing ways to experience the beauty of this rare ecosystem. After the walk we will visit Butterfly Garden, Insect Exhibition, Hummingbird Garden, Reptile and Amphibian Exhibition. Dinner.



Day 6 - Breakfast and transfer to the little authentic town on the Pacific Coast with white sand beach. Hotel check in. Lunch. Free time when you can relax on the beach, swim, walk. Dinner



 Day 7  Breakfast. Snorkeling Tour. After paddling out to Isla Chora we will stop to snorkel above rock or coral formations and observe the wondrous marine life below. Species that are frequently spotted on this trip include dolphins, sea turtles and various tropical fish species making this a highlight for many.  Dinner. 
Turtle watching tour. Playa Camaronal is a natural refuge to observe turtles laying eggs. The turtles lay around one hundred eggs, and visitors can  observe them very close.



Day 8 -  Breakfast. Kayaking tour. The most adventurous cannot miss this experience. In a pleasant thirteen minutes car ride, you arrive at the river to begin enjoying the tropical adventure .Whether you are an expert or a novice, it will only take you few meters of paddling down the river to learn how to use the paddle and play with the current. You will feel the adrenaline surge as you begin to enjoy this journey down the Ora River .Lunch. Dophine watching tour. Come witness a whole dolphin family in their natural habitat. At times you could also enjoy the presence of whales of turtles romantically engaging in an open love making scene.Dinner.





Day 9: Breakfast. Tranfser to the airport. Departure to USA.
